Naming the Hour
Two Curious Tales
Curious Tales presents two ghost stories for Christmas, each set on Christmas Eve 1995.
In 'The Tar Triangle' by Richard V. Hirst two sisters join a group of amateur actors convening at a vast and remote hall to re-enact the past for tourists. But they soon find themselves becoming sucked into their roles in a famous romance – and a famous murder – which was rumoured to have taken place in the house. In 'Our Mother's House' by Jenn Ashworth, Jessica and Heather return home on Christmas Eve. Their mother is dead, their childhood home is about to be sold and as they move through the familiar rooms for the last time, a sense of strangeness grows: all is not quite as they remembered, and their difficult mother's secretive past becomes their terrifying present. Together, these stories open a single door to the gathering night and name the hour when the darkness arrives. Naming the Hour: Two Curious Tales was published on Kindle on Christmas Eve 2020.
